Looking every bit the suburban idyll, Esker Hills in Portlaoise was languishing in summer sunshine as homeowner Karen O’Connor recalled her decision to move there. Karen, originally from Mountrath, moved to Esker Hills with her son Ross in June of 2009. Also employed in Portlaoise, Karen was keen to find a home that combined quality with ease of living, and found just what she was looking for in the O.N.S. development.

From day one, Karen’s experiences of O.N.S. had been all positive. “They were brilliant; I couldn’t fault them with anything. They explained the options available to me and were excellent,” she said. In keeping with O.N.S. principles, Karen’s home was finished to a high standard and ready for her to move into in no time. “Everything was in place for me when I was ready to make the move. I remember that the finishing in the house stood out for me. Even the little things were taken care of and in place.” Karen reserved particular thanks for Helena from O.N.S., who she said was a brilliant help throughout the process.

Esker Hills’ location, just a minute’s walk away from a nearby park, swimming pool and leisure centre also proved to be clincher for Karen, while the town centre and corresponding services and amenities are also just minutes away. “There’s a big green area for the kids in Esker Hills as well and, with the nearby park and town centre, everything’s close,” she added.

Moving into a new home can be made much less stressful, of course, if you have friendly neighbours, and as Karen explained, she has found just such a friendly atmosphere in Esker Hills. “I get on really well with my neighbours here and it does help you to settle in a lot quicker.”

Living and working in Portlaoise, Karen enjoys the various aspects of the town and the services it offers, but they wouldn’t be enough if one’s house didn’t feel like a home. For Karen, therefore, the many benefits of living in Esker Hills make the whole experience so much better.

“Apart from the fact that the house is so well finished, I really like that O.N.S. don’t have all of the houses in the estate crammed together, which is something I’ve noticed in other estates. In some places, it looks as though the houses were just dropped there! In Esker Hills however, all the houses are really well laid out and the design of the estate is really nice,” said Karen.
