The Capital of County Laois, Portlaoise is situated within easy reach of Dublin – a short 60 minute drive away on the new M7 Motorway – while Kildare, Newbridge and Naas are just 30 minutes away. It s located just a short drive from Junction 18  to the M50 and Dublin Airport.

Portlaoise offers excellent Bus Eireann and private bus services connecting to Dublin/Cork (N8 & N7) and the Dublin/Limerick (M7) National Primary Routes.

The town is serviced by the Dublin/Cork and Dublin/Limerick rail line and along with the recently renovated train station; the expanded commuter schedule offers a daily service running every 20 minutes from 6.30am.

Bellingham is located just a minutes walk from Kilmichy Village, including O’Gorman’s Pub, Spar,a Chiese and an Idian Restaurant.

Portlaoise is the leading shopping town of the Midlands, yet at the same time you will enjoy easy parking and no queues. The town boasts hassle-free access to all major retail names and a large number of purpose built shopping centres.

In Portlaoise town centre Tesco is anchor tenant, however there is also a LIDL supermarket nearby and an Aldi . The Kyle Shopping Centre boasts major retailers such as Dunnes Stores, Argos, Elvery Sports and TK Maxx and Superquinn.  Further up the town the Lismard Retail Park houses Mothercare, Homebase, Pet Mania, Heatons, Cost Plus Sofas and Sports World.  Gandon Court offers the convenience of a large Eurospar, Paddy Power Bookmaker, Clipz Hairdresser, Portland Barber, Fairgreen Pharmacy, The Mile Bush Pub, Fransesco’s take-away and Mizzoni’s Pizza all on one development.

Healthcare

Portlaoise offers ready access to two local hospitals, a large general hospital and a psychiatric hospital, plus private nursing homes and a sufficient number of GPs.

Education

Portlaoise as six primary schools plus one of the country’s leading Irish-speaking schools (Gaelscoil). There are three secondary schools and a mixed vocational school. There is a new VEC school plus two schools that cater for children with special needs.
